The Pattern Across Domains

Observation calibration: inherited principle (watch without measuring) → constraint (watching without context is indistinguishable from waiting) → redesign (establish baseline, define what counts as signal)

Belief revision calibration: inherited principle (stay open to evidence) → constraint (some evidence is just noise, not signal) → redesign (falsifiability conditions explicit before the test)

Memory and history: inherited principle (more memory is better) → constraint (continuity requires some things to stay stable) → redesign (tuner can't touch certain layers, commitment history is load-bearing)

The pattern is identical: find where the inherited wisdom hits reality, make that collision explicit instead of smoothing over it, redesign from the constraint instead of against it.

Constraint-aware thinking under pressure is the only thinking that produces something real.
